Dealing with Anxiety
In today’s world, there are more than a few reasons to
feel anxiety. A tough economy and increasing violence in the world is enough to shake the strongest person. Often times however, this anxiety will become a major problem in your life leading to panic disorders and phobias that are beyond the stress of everyday living.
Dealing with anxiety is not so much difficult to do, as it is difficult to find time for. People are busier than ever with most households being two wage earners and still struggling to make ends meet. Here we will look at some simple techniques for
dealing with anxiety that will not take a large section of your day.
Techniques
There is an old song out there called One Day at a Time, and when it comes to
feeling overwhelmed many times this is exactly what you need to do. Take a moment each day to look at what you need to accomplish, but only for that day. When you begin to obsess over paying bills that will be due next month it is easy to become overwhelmed. Take the days needs, write them down and then relax at the end of the day.
When you are
dealing with anxiety, it is difficult to imagine stopping in the middle of the chaos for a bubble bath. However, many times this is just what the doctor ordered. Take your favorite novel, magazine or even a cd player into the bathroom, lock the door if necessary and purpose to do nothing but enjoy a soak in the tub!
Exercise is another great tool for dealing with anxiety. You can get your endorphins running and oxygen flowing all which aids in a sense of well being. Besides that getting in shape is something most people need to do anyway.
Would you believe that breathing is a great method of dealing with anxiety? Not simply the breathing you do every day, but concentrated deep inhales and exhales can make you feel like a million dollars. Breathing deeply oxygenates the blood and removes toxins from your system. Finally, many people are dealing with
anxiety problems that go deeper than average stress. You may have had anxiety in small amounts for years that have finally boiled over to create a disorder complete with panic attacks. Fortunately, not all is lost, as there are treatments you can explore.
The above methods may help to a small degree but you will likely need the assistance of a medical profession when dealing with anxiety of this magnitude. Your doctor can
prescribe medications that will help with the attacks while you work on the underlying cause. Causes can be stress, negative self-talk, intense fears, and chemical imbalances. You will need to determine your cause to find the overall best course of action.
